How To Change the Alert Sound on a Mac 2022 + freebie
Using a mac, just find the folder in the screen captures at the top of this blog. After you drop your file in there, go to System Preferences and search the word Alert in the top right search bar. Select your file and done.
Ok this one is not just for Art Institute of Houston alumni, but anyone who’s ever enjoyed having a little levity in the office or computer lab. We used to find all kinds of creative ways to pasa la hora, if you know what I mean.
So one day I got really creative.
The guys were playing with this new-at-the-time text to speech app on the computer where you could type anything and it would speak it in funny computer voices. Someone made it say “you fucked up” because you know, people are always fucking up, and you notice it in a computer lab cause the little submarine noise or whatever the default alarm noise goes off.
We decided it would be funny if the computer’s default alarm noise got replaced with the sound of it saying “you fucked up” so, although it was extremely hard at the time, I made it happen. I recorded with the external microphone it saying the phrase and then put that file in the appropriate folder, and of course I was not done there.. the other students were given instructions to follow the same procedure on the rest of the lab with the file I provided. By the end of it half the lab was bugged with our audio alarm.
Stories went around about them going off like crazy the rest of the week and pissing off the teachers.
When one goes off, it may piss you off a little more at your fail. But then it reminds us to laugh at the menagerie that is life.
So if you want to have a crack at this self-deprecating humor or get back at someone else’s prank, I recreated the file and have it uploaded on my computer again for a little while. I can’t leave it on too long because my computer fucks up and then tells me I’m fucking up and that’s just not right.

Download them for free! And then internet search your device’s way of changing your Alarm sounds if you’re not on a mac.
If you’re in an office or art department, I encourage you to give this a swing. Just don’t do it to the manager’s computer.
