SUMMARY:Arts Goggle - Fort Worth
DESCRIPTION:Fort Worth’s Largest Festival of Local Art!\nSaturday\, October 19\, 2024 from 12-10pm\nFREE COMMUNITY EVENT\n\nBlock 7 : 5th Avenue to Henderson Street\, Magnolia Avenue\n\nINFO: www.artsgoggle.org\n\n\nMark your calendar for the biggest day of the year in Fort Worth’s Near Southside when both ArtsGoggle and Lost ‘N Sound come together on Saturday\, October 19 from noon to 10:00pm. ArtsGoggle presented by Trinity Metro will be held on W. Magnolia Avenue from 8th Avenue to St. Louis Avenue\, occupying 18 city blocks and hosting more than 900 visual artists. This year the ArtsGoggle Main Stage sponsored by Moncrief Cancer Institute | UT Southwestern and supported by Visit Fort Worth and Hear Fort Worth will host 10 performances beginning every hour on the hour. Three large food courts sponsored by Hill Building Group and Moncrief Cancer Institute | UT Southwestern will showcase locally owned and operated food businesses. \nLost ‘N Sound will also take place on Saturday\, October 19 from noon to midnight as an indoor music festival in the Near Southside’s South Main Village district. More than 25 businesses will host FREE live music performances\, special menus\, markets and more as part of Lost ‘N Sound. More details about that event at www.lostnsound.org. \n\nLOCATION\nThe traditional ArtsGoggle footprint is primarily outdoors\, centered along Magnolia Avenue from 8th Avenue to S. Main Street\, 21 blocks\, one mile stretch. A feast of art!\nDue to the exciting campus reconstruction and expansion underway at JPS hospital\, this year’s ArtsGoggle will shorten the festival footprint along Magnolia Avenue stretching from 8th Avenue to St. Louis Avenue\, three blocks shorter than previous years to make way for construction needs. So the 2024 ArtsGoggle will be 18 blocks.\nArtsGoggle also hosts artists indoors at participating Near Southside venues such as restaurants\, bars\, offices\, and retailers who are hosting artists\, live music\, and other entertainment in celebration of ArtsGoggle!

SUMMARY:Wholeness is a Myth Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Sawyer Yards is proud to present Wholeness is a myth\, a juried exhibition curated by artist and juror Kaima Marie Akarue\, featuring works from both current artists and alumni of the Sawyer Yards campus. This exhibition challenges traditional ideas of unity\, exploring the tension between individuality and collectivity\, distinction and cohesion. \nAkarue’s selection process emphasizes contrast over conformity\, assembling a diverse collection of works that reflect the layered identities of artists who have shared the creative spaces of Sawyer Yards — past and present — while maintaining their own distinct visual languages. Rather than suggesting harmony as the resolution to difference\, Wholeness is a myth asks: What if distinction is not an obstacle to wholeness\, but its very foundation? \nBy bringing together artists across generations of the Sawyer Yards community\, this exhibition invites viewers to consider how personal\, cultural\, and artistic identities are shaped through connection. In a time when division is often highlighted\, these works insist on a more profound truth: wholeness isn’t about becoming one thing — it’s about embracing the complexity of what we’ve always been. \nJoin us for the opening reception on July 11\, 2025 at 5pm\, where Kaima Marie Akarue will share insights into the selection process and the themes that shape this powerful exhibition. \nParticipating Artists: Adam Land\, Aguilera Gallery \, Alessandra Albin\, Alison Donaldson\, Allyson Caire Art\, Amanda Berg Art\, Andrea Venson\, Angela Corson\, Angela Rose Walling\, Austin Magruder Art\, Bogdan Mihai\, Bourne Jewelry\, Brenda J Bunten-Schloesser\, Britt Clayton\, Candis Smith Art\, Cheri Randolph Fine Art Photography\, Cheryl Russell Art\, Claire Cusack\, Clovis Postali\, Cora’s Glass \, Dana Cargile Art\, Dar Schafer Gallery\, Darrell White \, David Maldonado\, Denise Elliott Jones\, Egidio Narvaez Photography \, Ellen H Ray\, Erika Alonso\, Ethereal Gifts\, Fine Art Kisseleva\, Glen Carpenter Studios\, Glen Sementelli\, Habibi Bazaar\, Jatziri Barron Studio\, Jin Park Studio\, Kevin Peterson\, Kymn Harrison Fine Art\, L’atelier argentique\, Laura Tyagi\, Leslie Gaworecki\, Liz Plaster Studios\, Lucia Narvaez\, MABLUEART\, Marie E. The event remained almost exclusively indoors for the first decade before spilling out onto the street. Today\, visitors are invited to stroll artists’ booths on Magnolia Avenue stretching more than a mile in length\, and adjacent businesses\, new and old\, tout ArtsGoggle as their best day of sales each year.\n\nArtsGoggle prides itself in providing a casual\, approachable\, and vibrant environment for appreciating art and learning about the talents of our own community. For almost two decades\, this non-juried art festival has been the launch pad for many artists showing their work for the first time. ArtsGoggle provides a supportive setting for both aspiring and professional artists with new collections to display\, sell and discuss their artwork.\nAccompanying the visual artists\, the entertainment at ArtsGoggle heavily features local musicians and offers performances from a variety of genres. In addition\, the event partners with arts organizations across Fort Worth to draw attention to their programs. In years past\, ArtsGoggle has hosted the Fort Worth Opera for pop-up concerts; showcased Ballet Folklorico de Azteca for a colorful dance performance; and presented a stellar headliner performances from indie musicians Sarah Jaffe\, Ben Kweller\, and Sir Woman.\nFree to the public to attend\n\nLOCATIONThe traditional ArtsGoggle footprint is primarily outdoors\, centered along Magnolia Avenue. A feast of art!\nArtsGoggle also hosts artists indoors at participating Near Southside venues such as restaurants\, bars\, offices\, and retailers who are hosting artists\, live music\, and other entertainment in celebration of ArtsGoggle!\n\nEVENT PRODUCERArtsGoggle is produced by Near Southside Arts\, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization\, in partnership with sister non-profit organization Near Southside\, Inc.\nNear Southside\, Inc. is a private\, member-funded\, non-profit 501(c)(4) development company dedicated to the revitalization of Fort Worth’s Near Southside. NSI began as a small coalition of Near Southside businesses and community leaders and has grown dramatically over the last three decades. We invite you to join us as we promote the redevelopment of Fort Worth’s Near Southside as a vibrant\, urban\, mixed-use neighborhood.

SUMMARY:PASSAGES: 20 Years of Winter Street Studios
DESCRIPTION:Art Reception: Thursday\, Nov 6\, 2025  6pm – 9pm\nShow Dates: Sat\, Aug 23\, 2025 – Sat\, Nov 8\, 2025\n\n\n20 Years of Winter Street Studios: A Cornerstone of Houston’s Creative Legacy \nThe Deal Company would be honored if you would join us November 6th\, from 6-9pm\, as we celebrate 20 years of Winter Street Studios.  \nBe a part of a memorable celebration of the building’s past\, present and future with open studios\, drinks\, bites\, and live music. RSVP before November 1st. \nOn view throughout the building: \nPASSAGES: 20 Years of Winter Street Studios – a landmark exhibition commemorating two decades of artistic innovation\, resilience and transformation. \n_____________ \nIn the early 20th century\, Historic First Ward was a mix of working-class residences and industrial sites\, including warehouses and storage facilities. Construction on the 75\,000 square foot warehouse was completed in 1928 for the Houston Transfer Company\, and became the long-time home of Harris Moving & Storage. Located between two active rail lines\, for over half a century the structure served a vital role in Houston’s industrial landscape. \nIn 2004\, The Deal Company purchased the property and began converting raw warehouse into studio spaces. Already occupied by an informal artist collective\, Jon Deal collaborated with city officials to formally establish the site as a creative space. In 2005\, Winter Street Studios became the first building in Houston to be officially designated as ‘Art Studios’ by the City of Houston. \nSince opening\, Winter Street Studios has been the cornerstone of what is now Sawyer Yards—the largest creative campus in the nation. Twenty years later\, it continues to thrive as a dynamic hub for local artists\, fostering creativity and community engagement through exhibitions\, events\, and open studios. \nIt remains an essential part of Houston’s flourishing art scene.
