SUMMARY:MASS: Small works - Modern Eden - San Francisco
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates: November 11–December 1\, 2023\nOpening Reception: Saturday November 11\, 6-9 pm\n  \nIn a world where size is often equated with significance\, we challenge that notion\, inviting artists to explore the paradox of creating small works that command a massive presence. MASS is about the profound power and impact that can be conveyed in a few square inches\, and the way an art piece\, no matter how small\, can fill a room with its essence. We call on artists to tap into their ability to evoke grand ideas and prove that art’s influence isn’t bound by its physical size\, but by the magnitude of its spirit. \nFeaturing: Alexis Trice\, Allison Bamcat\, Amy Guidry\, Angelique Benicio\, Aunia Kahn\, Bob Doucette\, Caroline Gaudreault\, Catherine Moore\, Daniel Segrove\, Daryll Peirce\, Deirdre Sullivan-Beeman\, E.E. Kono\, Gabriela Sincich\, Genevive Zacconi\, Heidi Taillefer\, Henry Schreiber\, Jeannie L. His friendship meant so much to me and since his passing I always feel a part of me and the community is a little less without him. Michel loved to have a good time and that’s what we did best\, so I will go drink plenty of the brews that he designed the 1st labels for at Southern Star and I hope you will join us. His can designs will forever live on to remind us of his artistic brilliance. I hope that this blog post also serves as a sort of memorial about him. There needs to be more content about his work on the internet. I hope to continue to add to this in the coming years.\nHere’s one of his works from our art collection: \nMichel H. Draper Art\nAnd here’s a video we did a while back tasting the beer label he created with my art: \n \nEnjoy!

SUMMARY:Narratives at Play
DESCRIPTION:NARRATIVES AT PLAY\ncurated by Raul Rene Gonzalez\nVincent Fink – Stephanie Gonzalez – Calvin Pressley\n\nApril 14 – May 6\, 2023\n\nOpening Reception:\nFriday\, April 14\, 6pm – 9pm\nArtist Talks & Performances at 7:30pm\n\nClamp Light Artist Studios & Gallery\n1704 Blanco Road\, San Antonio\, Texas\n\nCurator Statement:\nNarratives at Play features new and recent artworks by three Texas-based artists: Vincent Fink\, Stephanie Gonzalez\, and Calvin Pressley. Through surrealist imagery and abstraction\, there is a sense of human nature and our connection to the natural and subconscious world pervading through each of the artists’ works. Whether it be through an intuitive process or mathematical planning\, there is an essence of play and exploration inviting viewers to re-interpret the works with their own sense of curiosity.\n\n\nArtist Statements:\nVincent Fink\nI intend to share my thoughts\, dreams\, and nightmares to help elevate the human condition and understanding of oneself as part of the collective. My primary medium is subconsciousness on consciousness. The Atlas Metamorphosis is my manifesto and Iterations are my patterns for refining an ever-adapting interpretation of the world. My work is multidisciplinary and multidimensional as I expand from two-dimensional detailed perspective drawings of Atlas and Iterations of Sacred Geometry surrealism paintings into three- and four-dimensional installations that reveal an uncanny glimpse of our corporal reality using a vast array of light\, sculptural and temporal media. In the name of art as exploration\, I am not limited to any one medium. Rather\, my work is conceptual. Building on consistent themes and concepts that question our place in history and reality. No matter what branch of my artistic studies\, I consider myself a Surrealist. It is always my intent to interact with the viewer on a subconscious and metaphysical level\, be it lucid\, or in waking life.\n\n\nStephanie Gonzalez\nI consider the act of creating my nature. An act of expression based on intuition. Growing up I felt a sense of disconnect from the world and the people around me. Visual art paved the way for me to express things that I could not express verbally. My work is a collection of personal experiences transcribed into layers of paint and mixed media\, coded into whatever substrate I can find. Each piece can be considered a journal entry to my life experiences on this earth. I have always found a sense of place in nature and creating art. I believe nature and art are the same things.\n\n\nCalvin Pressley\nAs an oil painter and drawer of mixed-media\, I find myself continually inspired by the play of light and color on the surface of my canvases. Recently\, I’ve turned my focus to exploring the intricate patterns and hues of various bird as a visual starting point. There’s something truly captivating about the way these creatures seem to shimmer and glow in the natural light. I’ve been exploring ways to capture that effect in my work. My birds often come from my world. Though I draw from the techniques and approaches of artists who’ve made a name for themselves since the growth of contemporary painting\, my ultimate goal is to create pieces that are approachable\, thought-provoking\, and visually appealing. I love to see viewers who are drawn into their vivid colors and dynamic surfaces. With a Master’s degree from America’s oldest art school under my belt\, I’m constantly experimenting with new techniques and approaches\, pushing myself to create work that is both informed and intuitive.\n\n\nAbout The Curator:\nRaul Rene Gonzalez is a multidisciplinary artist and curator based in San Antonio.
