DESCRIPTION:The exhibit will be on view from November 25 to January 31\, 2014 at 1600 Smith Street\, concourse level\, Houston\, TX 77002. Hours are Monday through Friday\, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. \nOpen Reception – December 13\, 2013\, 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM \nThis is a group exhibit of large artworks; each piece is at least 20 square feet in size. This is the first group exhibit devoted to large works of art in Houston. Additionally\, many of the artists are participating in the first-time-in-Houston “Buy The Square Foot” program. These (daring) artists are willing to let collectors select an area of their work\, say 1\, 2 or 4 square feet and the artist will cut out the selection. \n19 Artworks by 19 artists were selected from 60 artists that submitted 171 pieces by Matt Adams\, an independent curator and President of the Visual Arts Alliance VAA. SUMMARY:2013 White Linen Night in The Heights
DESCRIPTION:White Linen Night in The Heights started in 2006 at the suggestion of New Orleans native and then Hurricane Katrina transplants Chris Thayer and his wife\, Kay\, who had opened a boutique on 19th Street when they were displaced by the storm. The event was patterned after a similar event in The French Quarter Arts district in New Orleans where residents came out dressed in their white linen finest to see local art. The Thayers and the Heights First Saturday group organized the event as a way to promote interest and traffic  to 19th street so local businesses could thrive in the hot Houston summer.
